Home – About Us
Ugunja Development Initiative (UDI) is a youth focused and youth-led community-based organization (CBO) that was established in 2016 in Ugunja Sub County-Siaya County. As a non-profit organization, UDI has continued to work with communities, partners and multi-stakeholders to contribute to improved community health systems and increase investment to essential health services. Dissemination of information is a key focus, particularly on the sexual reproductive health and rights to women, the youth and persons with disability.
We have operated in Siaya County-Kenya since 2018 and created a strong adolescent, youths and young people’s network that engages effectively with national and the Siaya County government, the private sector and other stakeholders accountable for health systems. We actively advocate for delivery of equitable, accessible and high quality SRHR services that contribute to growth and development of vulnerable population.
We are concerned about the prevailing abysmalstatus of marginalized community members in our target audience who include orphans and vulnerable children, adolescents, youths, women of reproductive age and persons with disabilities. Hence, our core values are encapsulated by the acronym PETIID i.e. amet tortor.
